LAPL(A) / PPL(A) Theoretical Knowledge Training

Submitted by admin on Sun, 02/25/2018 - 16:00

Offered eLearning or classroom courses in this category are based on the theoretical knowledge training syllabus required for Light Aircraft Pilot License (Aeroplanes) and Private Pilot Licence (Aeroplanes), also known as LAPL(A) and PPL(A) respectively, in accordance with European Flight Crew Licensing Regulations (EASA FCL). These ab initio pilot training courses are suitable for those who wish to fly their own private light aircraft or are intended to serve as entry level training for those who aspire to follow a future career as commercial pilots. Each course can be customised to the trainee to include one or more lessons in different subjects. Current lessons available for LAPL(A) and PPL(A) include:

- Air Law & ATC Procedures,

- Human Performance,

- Meteorology,

- Communications,

- Principles of Flight,

- Operational Procedures,

- Flight Performance and Planning,

- Aircraft General Knowledge,

- Navigation

Training is provided through a combination of digital theoretical knowledge content and presentations of simulated aircraft operations for the improved familiarisation of trainees with aircraft handling techniques and the use of aircraft devices and instruments. With the use of different visual aids and video projectors the instructors are able to show theory notes, videos and other digital materials for each lesson in the training course . All content is available and can be accessed at AVATIONEU TSS e-Learning Platform and can be equally used by instructors in classroom sessions (real or virtual) or by the trainees for their studies throughout the courses. For additional information on AVATIONEU TSS training resources please see our Photos section. Enrolled trainees in eLearning courses can study at their own pace from their country of residence within a pre defined study timeplan agreed with their assigned tutor.

Integrated lesson tests (also known as Progress Assessment Test, PAT), with similar questions to those included in the Internal Course Examination (ICE),  are available to the trainees to check the level of their knowledge and understanding of taught subjects. PAT and ICE are different in scope but both have some common characteristics.

Progress Assessment Tests (PAT) are specific to a lesson, are intended for use as a self-assessment mechanism by the trainees to check their levels of performance without any formal significance for their training records. They have no limitations in retakes. Nevertheless, their results are recorded in the AVATIONEU TSS e-Learning Platform and should be used in the communications between the trainees and their tutors or the respective instructors for possible performance improvements whenever needed. It is highly recommended that trainees should take PAT whenever they feel that a high score (at least 70%) could be achieved.

Internal Course Examination (ICE), includes one or more examinations depending on the number of lessons of the course as needed and is based on the syllabus of the course lesson(s). ICE is held at the completion of each course, documents the performance of the trainees and examination scores are officially recorded in their training records.  ICE follows strictly the structure and format of the respective examinations organised by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA) for LAPL or PPL licenses. Pass mark for each of the lessons in the ICE is set to 80% of total marks of the respective examination. Up to three (3) sittings are allowed (initial and 2 retakes).

Visa requiring trainees can take ICE ONLY in Greece during workshops organised by AVATIONEU TSS for their final preparation for HCAA examinations. The pass mark for HCAA examination is 70%. EU and non visa requiring trainees can take ICE either online from their country of residence with the use of online proctoring services or in Greece during their attendance of the workshops.

BOTH PAT and ICE are:
